Sleepy Feet

I am not one to give a one-size-fits all approach to everyone. What works for one, might not work for many and what works for many might not work for YOU. As a parent, you have your own philosophy (Do I let my child cry? Do I mind feeding an 11 month old at night?) and your child’s personality and temperament will be a factor as you embark on helping him/her sleep. When I personally give advice, I take everything into consideration. Everyone’s situation is unique and frankly, when you are severely sleep-deprived who has the time, energy or concentration to read a book or even this website? Call me your cliffs notes.

I am not claiming to be a doctor or sleep “expert” or that a “program” is going to have your baby sleep 12 hours a night in just 3 days or even a week. Helping your child learn healthy sleep habits is a process and depending on the baby, that process time varies. Some get it in one night and others take months of consistency to really “get it”. But, you won’t need constant advice during the entire process, either. My advice is not a gimmick. You don’t have to give me your e-mail before I tell you any information. I have plenty of information here on the website for you to peruse.

My approach when my first born was a newborn was based on my in-born personality and his needs. He was high-needs and it somewhat worked with my natural tendency to be very affectionate and cuddly. But, my incessant rocking him to sleep did become a problem for us. I won’t go into all the details here, but later I had to realize that I had to adjust my parenting to his personality that would help him get the most sleep (and me too!). As he’s grown into a toddler, I’ve had to adjust the way I give him instructions, too, because of his personality. I suspect my second son may need even further refinements and I may end up having to “raise” them differently. This is evident to me when my father was frustrated that what encouraged me in school did not do the same for my younger brother.

Please feel free to explore the website. My #1 goal is to help you and your child sleep and to help tired mommies and daddies.
